Types of teeth

There are different types of Teeth found in Cordata (vertebrara) 👉

i) Homodont - Animals whose teeth are similar in structure and function. 

Eg. Cephalochordata, Fishes, Amphibian, Raptile.

ii) Hererodont - Animals whose teeth are dissimilar in structure. 

Eg. Mammals

iii) Acrodont - Teeth at the upper side of jaw. 

Eg. Cephalocordata, Fishes, Amphibian, Raptile

iv) pleurodont - Teeth at the side of jaw. 

Eg. Raptile

v) Thecodont - Teeth at the completely enclosed in a deep socket of bone (base)

Eg. Mammals, Raptile (crocodile) 

vi) Polyphycodont - Theeth that comes many times during whole life. 

Eg. Acrodont, pleurodont

vii) Diphycodont - Teeth that cone twice during whole life. 

Eg. 20 teeth of Humans

viii) Monophycodont - Teeth that comes only once during whole life. 

Eg. (32-20) = 12 teeth of Humans
